"The Bikeriders" Vintaged Vandals Motorcycle Jacket

$1,475 USD

Thanks to the success of the original 568, we've schemed up a midweight vintaged version, unique in its own right. The 568VN goes through a vintaging process consisting of stone washing, regular washing, and tumbling. This process creates a result similar to our PER70 and leaves every jacket with its own marks, scuffs, and scars. A figurative "one of one" if you will.

Compared to the 568, this jacket is more rigid and will take longer to break in. Because of it's veg tanning and teacore under-layer, this jacket is full of "squeak" when worn as well. The BLTV belt style made for the 568 also fits the 568VN.

The 568VN is proudly Made In The USA at our factory in Union, New Jersey.

Overview

The "Vandals" Perfecto jacket is a reinterpretation of the vintage jacket worn in the movie The Bikeriders. The jacket has a back length of 25 inches, which is authentic to the period. We added an iridescent burgundy rainglow lining which is a nod to the red linings of the time. The D-pocket configuration is featured in our first Perfecto motorcycle jacket designed by Irving Schott in 1928.

Just wanted to take a moment to not only share my appreciation for this jacket but also to correct the record from a few other reviews. So admittedly, I initially was skeptical about this one just because of all of the pre-distressing, which I admit I still wish was a little less enthusiastic, as a denim guy- but honestly in person it’s not as severe or distracting as I expected based on the online images. Ultimately I got this one over the standard version because I DO want the leather to age and I love teacore-style leathers.

Some reviewers have commented on how stiff the leather is, and how arduous it is to break in. I’ll concede that the leather has a lot of memory, and while sure, it’s stiff, I would NOT say it’s anything nuts. I’ve got several horsehide Japanese leather jackets and they are waaaaaaaaaaay more stiff than this. I’ve worn it about three days now, and it’s completely comfortable. The lapel and collar still have retained a lot of memory, probably due to the washing process but it’s really nothing crazy. I don’t think Schott makes anything that is uncomfortable. Certainly not out of the many jackets I’ve had and tried on from them.

Beyond that, man, the photos really don’t do the liner on this jacket any justice. It’s very striking in person, and has a wonderful tooth to it. Definitely feels like it’ll hold up for a good long while. The cut of the jacket is perfect for folks with broad shoulders, but without being cut too long in the body- which is exactly why I ordered it. I couldn’t be more pleased with how it fits. They don’t have many cut like this, and it really feels like an end to a several decade hunt for the perfect leather jacket.

Truth told I also ordered the SP611- which is also cut short and cropped, and while I intended to only keep one, they were both so killer I kept them both. So stoked to finally have found these jackets.

Excellent jacket. Love that each jacket has one-of-a-kind distressing. Waited a long time to buy a Schott and am not even the slightest bit disappointed.

Perfect retro-style….

I picked-up my 568VN this past summer and haven’t looked back since. Absolutely beautiful jacket on every level; no doubt this will be an eventual heirloom piece sometime down the road. Rode with it all Fall and, as expected; the more worked-in it gets, the better it looks. If you’re looking for that retro style, but are “on the fence” (definitely not inexpensive, but investment pieces don’t come cheap). If you can pull-it-off and have access to a 568VN….highly recommended.

Amazing craftsmanship one of a kind look

Love this jacket have the other one too that more clean looking of the Bikeriders love both of them but this vintage one especially it’s so epic and worth the price it’s cause quality is untouchable

Absolutely great

If you hesitate, just don’t, it is worth the price. The size instructions were accurate and after wearing the jacket for a few days, the leather became a little softer. I see a lot of people in the street staring at it, which confirms that it is probably the most beautiful perfecto ever made. If I had to make one criticism, it would probably be about the length in the back, a few more inches would have been appreciated for riding my motorcycle, even though it is not a big problem anyway.

Nice jacket, seems well made.

I’m 5’9 and 185 pounds and I got a medium, fits decent but is tight around the armpit area which I hope will loosen and ease up with wear. The break in process has been a long and painful one so far but it’s making progress slowly but surely, I’m not even close to done yet. I think the “Stiffness” description that Schott gives is a tad misleading as this is one of the stiffer jackets they sell, definitely not “soft” as I’ve seen described for the same jacket but different variant. I get compliments on this all the time and the vintage variant is the way to go in terms of aesthetic as it has that extra flavor and different colors that allow you to wear this jacket with more outfits, recommended but be wary of the break in on this one.

Perfect!!!

After much hesitation because of customs fees for shipping to France, I ordered this jacket following the size guide and it's absolutely perfect. The leather is a little stiff and noisy the first few days, but with a little leather care cream it adopted the shape of my shoulders perfectly. The distressed look is well realized and doesn't look fake - it could pass for my father's jacket in his youth!
In short, it's the most beautiful perfecto I've ever seen, and I've noticed a lot of people staring at it on the street.
Finally, the short, slightly fitted cut is perfect for motorcycling, even if I would have appreciated a little extra length in the lower back.

Style style style

Picked one up a few days ago and love it the leather seems to be the same as the Per70 in feel and weathering. Great fit, same exactly as the regular 568 which I also have. I’m 5’9 212lbs and a size large fits great. A nice combo of style and old school feel. Just wore it out and received many compliments!
Thanks Schott for providing another great jacket.
